The race is called "Run For the Zoo" which supports our local Albuquerque zoo and Bio-Park; both very nice family places for many reasons. Our children are now old enough that my wife and I are trying to introduce them to one of our strongest common ties. We purchased tickets several months back, read their instructions and are familiar with streets/surrounding areas.
For this particular race shuttles are modest because of past participation however the weather that we experienced this week has been exceptional and consequently the turnout was tremendous (approximately 18,000)! As it turns out, we showed up over an hour in advance as instructed, waited in line for an hour and twenty minutes, arrived at the starting line as the banners were being removed, ran to the finish line (1 mile) just in time for the race concessions to run out of water. When we arrived at the return shuttle location, we were looking at another forty minutes wait for our return ride of three miles. Not being a patient individual, I ran the three miles back down Route 66 to retrieve our car so we could make it to a surprise birthday party of a friend only to find out that my son managed to play baseball with my digital camera while I was gone.
Our family had a good time however it is my sincere wish that your races will be better this year and we have a better race next. Run far and run fast my friends; what a feeling......
